Do you still think $MM of concrete is "platypus-friendly"...?

  • Share this Petition with local friends.

Thank you for the support towards protecting Parramatta's existing habitat and riverbank corridors - while seeking a better and less destructive cycleway project plan. Here in Western Sydney Casuarina_glauca 'Swamp Oak" ARE the answer to natural 'green-tech' riparian restoration.

SEE the Parramatta Park precedent we planted in 1996 (on Google maps).

  • World Cities are actually removing concreted riverbanks.

Enquiries are being made to our State Member for Parramatta Donna Davis MP, to examine the actual West-Invest Grant, its budget items and criteria that have led to this 'Draft Concept Plan' and the provision of an huge $26Million. Council ratepayers are also contributing the extra $2M. No-where is concreting the riverbank described as "leading by example" - Cities around the world are removing concreted riverbank and channels

Make sure to write direct to your Councillors & Council on Participate Parramatta (HERE TODAY), to express objection and ask to see

  • the Budget items, AND an Alternative put on Public Exhibit
  • with pier Boardwalk fully over water (southbank), featuring all trees
  • living Educational restored Billabong (northbank at OKS) AND
  • New Bridge aligned with Marsden Street, with openside to view.

Subject: Western River Precinct Connection Project

Also FYI Council's 'Draft Concept' mislabels planted Casuarina cunninghamii which are not local to Parramatta area as Swamp Oak. The answer is local Swamp Oak and many onsite Paperbark trees Melaleuca stypheliodies - just needing protection and bush regeneration.
