Protect Our Privacy : Stop Uk goverment from weakening encryption
The Issue
We, the undersigned, call on the UK government to stop any attempts to weaken encryption, force tech companies to grant access to private messages, or compromise iCloud and WhatsApp backups.
Whats Happening?
The UK government is pushing for laws that would:
Force Apple to give access to iCloud backups, exposing personal messages, photos, and sensitive data.
Pressure WhatsApp to remove end-to-end encryption, meaning the government (and potentially hackers) could read our private conversations.
If this goes ahead, no ones personal data will be safe not journalists, lawyers, activists, businesses, or everyday people just having private conversations.
Why This is Dangerous
1. Privacy is a Human Right Encryption protects our data from hackers, criminals, and surveillance overreach. Removing it puts everyone at risk.
2. It Wont Stop Criminals , Criminals will simply move to more secure, underground platforms, while ordinary citizens will have their privacy invaded.
3. It Sets a Dangerous Precedent If the UK forces Apple and WhatsApp to weaken encryption, other governments will demand the same, leading to global surveillance.
4. Tech Companies May Pull Out WhatsApp and Signal have already threatened to leave the UK if forced to break encryption. This would leave millions without access to secure messaging.
What We Demand
We call on the UK government to:
Protect encryption and digital privacy rights.
Stop any laws that force tech companies to weaken security.
Recognize that strong encryption is essential for safety, democracy, and personal freedom.
How You Can Help
Sign this petition to show the government we wont accept mass surveillance.
Contact your MP and demand they vote against any laws weakening encryption.
Support privacy-focused companies that resist these laws (Apple, Signal, etc.).
Share this petition and spread awareness!
If we dont stand up now, we risk losing the right to private communication forever. Lets make it clear: our privacy is not negotiable.
