The Issue

Say NO! to more warehouses near our homes and schools!

I live in Tracy, and each and every day I feel the relentless rumble of semi-trucks going down Corral Hollow. The traffic jams, round-the-clock noise, and, most of all, the diesel fumes drifting into our yards are taking a visible toll on our families' quality of life. What used to be a quiet neighborhood and area is now becoming an industrial thoroughfare, and residents are saying enough is enough.

The proposed Tracy Hills Commerce Center, which would essentially amount to seven massive warehouses wedged near our homes, will multiply these problems, basically instantly. More big-rig traffic will mean longer commutes, faster pavement deterioration, and a spike in dangerous emissions. The California Air Resources Board warns that diesel pollution already accounts for about 70 percent of the cancer risk from toxic air statewide. Communities that neighbor large warehouse clusters consistently show higher rates of asthma, heart disease, and other pollution-based illnesses. We refuse to let Tracy become the next cautionary tale, when it could be avoided.

We are calling on the Mayor and the City Council to DENY approval of the seven Corral Hollow warehouses and redirect larger industrial projects to appropriately zoned and lesser populated areas. Economic growth should never come at the expense of our children's lungs, our property values, or the character of the neighborhoods we love.

By signing this petition you join a community demanding clean air, safe streets, and smarter, more sustainable development. Add your name, email Council members, and, most importantly perhaps, speak up at the July 1st City Council meeting. I hope that together, our voices can help keep Tracy vibrant and healthy for multiple generations to come.
