Community Action Alert

It has come to my attention that the Zoning Commission for the City of Fort Worth is in the process of reviewing an application to issue a conditional use permit that would allow a new gambling poker room in the Hulen Pointe Shopping Mall of Fort Worth.

This process must stop now. I am calling on the City of Fort Worth to stop any further actions on the approval of this conditional use permit and take deliberate overt action to engage the neighborhoods that would be located in close proximity to this proposed gambling operation.

Our Fort Worth neighborhoods should have the right to decide if they want a 24 hour gambling operation so close to our families and homes. Additionally, a conditional use permit should never be utilized to allow this type of gambling establishment to be placed in any neighborhood across our city. 

Our Fort Worth neighborhoods are not for gambling. If this happens in one neighborhood in Fort Worth it will open the door for the use of conditional use permits to place these type of gambling rooms across all Fort Worth neighborhoods.

On issues as important as this, neighborhoods must be contacted and have a seat at the table for these decisions. Please join us in telling the Mayor of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth City Council, and the Fort Worth Zoning Commission that this is not the Fort Worth we want for our neighborhoods.
