Protect Our Neighborhoods: Relocate the Proposed Concrete Batch Plant

The Issue

We, the residents of Juniper, Acacia, Hawthorne, and Edgewood, oppose the proposed concrete batch plant planned only a few hundred feet from our homes and ask that it be relocated to a more appropriate industrial area.

This site is simply not suitable for an operation involving heavy machinery, diesel trucks, early-morning activity, and material handling. Our neighborhoods are family-focused residential areas, and placing an industrial plant this close would create significant, unavoidable impacts.

Why This Location Is Not Appropriate:

• Industrial noise from trucks, loaders, mixers, and backup alarms.
• Heavy truck traffic posing safety risks to families, cyclists, and teen drivers.
• Dust and air quality concerns from aggregate handling and truck movement.
• Bright industrial lighting and vibration near homes.
• Likely negative effect on property values for surrounding neighborhoods.
These impacts aren’t speculative—they reflect normal operations of concrete batch plants.

Our Request:

We respectfully ask the Town of Argyle move to more appropriate industrial area—one designed to handle heavy equipment, truck activity, and noise without harming nearby residents.

This is not anti-development. We support growth that is responsible, safe, and aligned with Argyle’s residential character. This location simply does not meet that standard.

Responded
Thank you for sharing your concerns and for taking the time to engage with the Town of Argyle on this issue. As Town Manager, my role is to ensure that citizen input is communicated to the elected officials who ultimately discuss and vote on matters before the Town Council. I serve as the conduit between residents and the decision makers who represent them. We have printed the materials that have been submitted — including the text of the petitions, public comments, and signatures — and combined them with the written feedback we have received. This complete packet has been emailed and distributed to all of our elected officials so they have everything in front of them as they prepare for the discussion. The next opportunity for community members to share their views will be at the upcoming Town Council meeting on Monday, December 15 at 5:30 p.m. This is also when the Council is scheduled to vote on the topic. The agenda for that meeting has not yet been posted, but it will be available on the town’s website once finalized: http://argyleedc.com/AgendaCenter/Town-Council-6 We have received the information shared so far, and we look forward to hearing from residents at the December 15 meeting. Your participation is an important part of our process, and we encourage anyone with input to attend. — Mike Sims Town Manager, Town of Argyle
