Please forgive my tardiness — I recently embarked on a road trip out west. In my absence, my colleagues prepared a letter to the Corporation of Hamilton regarding water rights, which is attached.
Please read the letter in its entirety, so you understand that the requests being made are already outlined in provincial and municipal LAW. Once again, we are asking our representatives to do what they were hired to do: protect ALL of their constituents.
The hydrogeological study must be updated to reflect today's circumstances and conditions — not a 25-year-old study conducted under conditions we have every reason to question.
We also have several constituents who have come forward regarding the water study for the existing course. They have told us they raised concerns about water contamination and water shortages as early as 2003. Troublingly, their accounts describe intimidation and the threat of lawsuits. If these allegations are accurate, they need to be brought to the attention of both the City and the Province.
Meanwhile, both of our representatives are hiding from these issues. So once again I am asking you to call Donna directly, call your mayor, and voice your displeasure.
The municipality and the provincial authorities work for us. Please send a message that this will soon come to an end. They work for us — not for special interests, and not for free golf.
