Protect Our Kids: Establish a Family Court Investigative Service (FCIS) Now

The issue

We are calling on the Australian Government to establish the Family Court Investigative Service (FCIS)—an independent agency with the authority to:

✔ Investigate allegations before they reach court
✔ Enforce parenting and protection orders in real time
✔ Regulate family report writers and court-appointed experts
✔ Prosecute false claims and breaches
✔ Deliver faster, fairer, and child-focused outcomes

Too many children are being taken from safe, loving parents. Too many are being left in dangerous, harmful situations. And too many families are stuck in limbo—waiting months or even years for action—because the family court system is overwhelmed and under-resourced.

As a parent who has experienced this system firsthand, I’ve seen the damage that delays, false allegations, and a lack of accountability can cause. Court orders are ignored. Investigations are slow or incomplete. Meanwhile, children suffer—whether from abuse, neglect, or unjust separation from a loving parent.

Judges and court staff work tirelessly and with the best intentions—but they are operating under immense pressure with limited capacity. Right now, there is no dedicated investigative body, no enforcement team, and no consistent regulation of court-appointed professionals.

The result?

Children left in unsafe environments or alienated from parents
A growing mental health crisis across families
An increasing number of suicides linked to family court cases
A lack of trust in the system designed to protect the vulnerable
It’s time to support the courts with the tools they need.

A formal submission outlining the proposal for the Family Court Investigative Service (FCIS) was presented to the Australian Government on 27 March 2025.

This document has been sent directly to the Prime Minister, the Attorney-General, and the Chief Justice of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. It outlines the urgent need for structural reform and provides a comprehensive framework for the establishment and operation of the FCIS.

Let’s protect children. Let’s restore faith in family law. Sign and share this petition today.
