Protect Our Kids Australia

The issue

The distribution of non-consented student AI deep fake images at schools, must stop NOW.

It is a crime in Australia under federal and state/territory laws. Minors reported to the police for such alleged crimes, are referred to the juvenile justice program with no records against their names.

The government, schools and community must act NOW to protect our kids from being victims of digital sexual harassment, especially with the rise of AI.

We are calling on the federal government to mandate all funded schools to implement digital sexual harassment policies, procedures and education. With the government providing schools recommended guidelines and resources to support their staff, parents and students.

Teachers are not substitutes for parents, and schools are not responsible for all aspects of student behaviour.

Schools are however responsible for proactively monitoring, reporting and handling incidents amongst students in a way that protects victims and appropriately disciplines perpetrators to prevent it from happening again.

Schools need the right processes, procedures and education in place to enable staff and parents to know when to act and what to do.

We propose non-compliance should see funding pulled or fines issued.
