Protect Our Dublin Community and the Boulevard from Released Inmate Threats!

The Issue

Dublin and the Boulevard community are facing a grave safety crisis, evident in a surge of attempted home burglaries, package thefts, and the unsettling escalation to physical assaults. Released inmates are repeatedly observed wandering in the Boulevard and the city. Loitering menacingly in front of homes, and surely disregarding any directives given upon their release. On November 26th, my toddler and I encountered a recently released inmate wielding a rock and surveying a home. Crossing the street, he proceeded to physically assault a couple. This tragic event demonstrates the urgent need for effective intervention.

Given the multitude of families with young children and upcoming plans for a school, addressing this safety concern is of utmost importance. We urgently demand a comprehensive solution, favoring direct inmate transport to the BART station with a city-provided ticket. Alternatively, releasing inmates to a non-residential neighborhood is acceptable as a short-term measure.

Transparent communication on release schedules and heightened police/security monitoring are also imperative. The urgency of the matter cannot be overstated. Our children deserve a secure environment to live, learn, and play, and it is incumbent upon us to make that a reality.
