The City of Sedalia held a hearing on June 4th, but to many of us, it felt like our words fell on deaf ears. Members of the Zoning board appeared to be set in their opinions, disregarding our genuine concerns about the safety and stability of our beloved neighborhood.

The City of Sedalia's current plan to establish Transitional Housing at 1809 W 10th St raises significant unease among residents. While we empathize with the intention to provide housing for those in need & recovering from addiction, the location is problematic and potentially detrimental to our quiet community.

Transitional housing, though well-meaning, often comes with challenges that can disrupt neighborhood tranquility. Our small community, known for its peaceful environment, faces potential increases in crime and disturbances should the plan proceed. These risks cannot be ignored, and we must consider the impact on local residents who have built a life here based on safety and community trust.

Although the need to support vulnerable populations is crucial, it should not come at the cost of compromising the safety and security of established communities. We urge City Council to reconsider placing this facility at 1809 W 10th St and explore alternative locations that balance community aid with neighborhood welfare.
