As concerned parents and advocates for the well-being of our children, we are deeply concerned about the easy accessibility of music videos with pornographic content on social media. We are referring to lyrics and images of popular songs and videos that often rival the most graphic and deviant content found in pornographic literature regulated or prohibited by law. Alarmingly, these explicit materials are easily available to anyone, including impressionable young minds.

While most social networks have regulations that prohibit or regulate most pornographic content, music videos with lyrics and porn content are distributed without restrictions in platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and others. This disparity in regulations must be addressed immediately to safeguard the innocence and mental health of our children.

Social media platforms have become an integral part of the lives of children and teenagers, providing entertainment and connection with others. However, it is disheartening to witness how our children easily encounter music videos with obscene and sexualized content simply because they are treated differently from other types of pornographic and adult-oriented material.

The impact of exposure to pornographic content on young people cannot be underestimated. Numerous studies have shown that early exposure to sexually explicit material can lead to detrimental effects, such as distortion in their interpersonal relationships, increased aggression, decreased empathy toward others, and even addiction-like behaviors (American Psychological Association).

For a long time, producers of music with sexualized and pornographic content have made billions of dollars by taking advantage of the weakness or absence of legislation that would protect children from such material when it is distributed online. They do not care about the mental health of children and adolescents who are exposed to this type of music they produce. In addition to the highly sexualized and pornographic content, some lyrics promote drug use and trafficking, prostitution, alcohol consumption and other illegal activities for minors. Many blame parents, who no longer know what else to do to prevent our children from exposure to material that harms them on social networks because there is no regulation for that material. It is time for social networks to take responsibility and do more than just limit or regulate other type of pornography.

It is essential that social networks take responsibility for their role as platforms that shape social norms and values. Just as they diligently regulate other types of illegal or offensive content, such as hate speech, violence, and even other types of pornographic content, they must treat music with pornographic and sexually explicit content with the same scrutiny. By signing this petition, we demand that social networks:

1. Implement stricter regulations regarding the availability and visibility of music videos containing pornographic lyrics and content.

2. Enforce age restrictions or parental controls for accessing such explicit material.

3. Collaborate with experts in child psychology and online safety measures when formulating policies related to adult-oriented musical content.

4. Provide transparent reporting mechanisms for users who come across inappropriate pornographic music, ensuring swift action is taken to remove it.

5. Inmediately delete and ban all pornographic music videos promoting unlawful activities, like illegal drug use and traffic, abuse, etc. and report the producers to authorities.

We understand that both in the United States Congress and in judicial courts there has been an ongoing debate about regulations to protect children from material that is harmful to them. We ask our legislators, justices and our president:

1. Create a commission to evaluate the use and distribution of music with pornographic and sexualized content on social networks.

2. Provide legislation and regulations for the use and distribution of this type of material in Social Networks. Revise and update, if necessary, previous attempts to protect children from obscene and adult material while using the Internet such as the COPA (Child Online Protection ACT) or,

3. Produce new legislation in accordance with the dangers that the use and distribution of music with sexualize and pornographic content represents for children while using social networks.

It is not possible that the most developed nation in the world just stays stuck in this debate and leaves the children of this country and the world unprotected.

Lastly, we understand the importance of freedom of expression and artistic creativity. However, we firmly believe that protecting our children from harmful content should be the top priority. Let us come together to create a safer digital environment for our future generations.

Como padres preocupados y defensores del bienestar de nuestros hijos, estamos profundamente preocupados por la fácil accesibilidad a videos musicales con contenido pornográfico en las redes sociales. Nos referimos a letras e imágenes de canciones y vídeos populares que a menudo rivalizan con el contenido más gráfico y desviado que se encuentra en la literatura pornográfica regulada o prohibida por la ley. Es alarmante que este material explícito esté tan fácilmente disponible para cualquiera, incluidas las mentes jóvenes impresionables.

Si bien la mayoría de las redes sociales tienen regulaciones que prohíben o regulan la mayoría del contenido pornográfico, los videos musicales con letras y contenido pornográfico se distribuyen sin restricciones. Esta disparidad en las regulaciones debe abordarse de inmediato para salvaguardar la inocencia y la salud mental de nuestros niños.

Las plataformas de redes sociales se han convertido en una parte integral de la vida de niños y adolescentes, brindando entretenimiento y conexión con los demás. No se puede subestimar el impacto de la exposición a contenidos pornográficos en los jóvenes. Numerosos estudios han demostrado que la exposición temprana a material sexualmente explícito puede provocar efectos perjudiciales, como distorsión en las relaciones interpersonales, aumento de la agresividad, disminución de la empatía hacia los demás e incluso conductas similares a las de la adicción (Asociación Americana de Psicología).

Durante mucho tiempo, los productores de música con contenido sexualizado y pornográfico han ganado miles de millones de dólares aprovechandose de la debilidad o ausencia de una legislación que proteja a los niños que utilizan las redes sociales e Internet. No les importa la salud mental de los niños y adolescentes que consumen su material. Al alto contenido sexualizado y pornográfico se suman mensajes que promueven el consumo y tráfico de drogas, la prostitución, el consumo de alcohol y otras actividades ilegales para menores. Muchos culpan a los padres, que ya no sabemos qué más hacer para evitar que nuestros hijos no se expongan a material que les perjudique en las redes sociales porque no existe una regulación para ese material. Es hora de que las redes sociales asuman responsabilidad y hagan más que solo prohibir o regular otro tipo de material pornografico.

Es esencial que las redes sociales asuman la responsabilidad de su papel como plataformas que dan forma a las normas y valores sociales. Así como regulan diligentemente otros tipos de contenido ilegal u ofensivo, como el discurso de odio, la violencia e incluso otros tipos de contenido pornográfico, deben tratar la música con contenido pornográfico y sexualmente explícito con el mismo escrutinio.

Al firmar esta petición, exigimos a las redes sociales:

1. Implementar regulaciones más estrictas con respecto a la disponibilidad y visibilidad de videos musicales que contengan letras y contenido pornográfico.

2. Hacer cumplir restricciones de edad o controles parentales para acceder a dicho material explícito.

3. Colaborar con expertos en psicología infantil y medidas de seguridad en línea a la hora de formular políticas relacionadas con contenidos de musica orientada a adultos.

4. Proporcionar mecanismos de denuncia transparentes para los usuarios que encuentren música pornográfica inapropiada, garantizando que se tomen medidas rápidas para eliminarla.

5. Eliminar y prohibir inmediatamente todos los videos musicales que ademas de contenido pornográfico promuevan actividades ilegales, como el uso y tráfico de drogas ilegales, abuso, etc., e reportar a los productores a las autoridades.

Entendemos que tanto en el Congreso de los Estados Unidos como en las cortes judiciales ha habido un debate continuo sobre regulaciones para proteger a los niños de material que les resulte perjudicial, pero no se ha llegado a nada. Solicitamos a nuestros legisladores y magistrados y al excelentisimo presidente:

1. Crear una comisión para evaluar el uso y distribución de música con contenido pornográfico y de contenido sexual explicito en las redes sociales.

2. Crear un marco legislativo y regulaciones para el uso y distribución de este tipo de material en Redes Sociales. Revisar y actualizar, si es necesario, intentos anteriores de proteger a los niños de material obsceno y para adultos mientras usan Internet, como la COPA (Ley de Protección Infantil en Línea) o,

3. Producir nueva legislación acorde con los peligros que representa el uso y distribución de música con contenido sexualizado y pornográfico en los ninos mientras usan las redes sociales. No es posible que la nación más desarrollada del mundo se quede estancada en este debate y deje desprotegidos a los niños de este país y del mundo.

Por último, entendemos la importancia de la libertad de expresión y la creatividad artística. Sin embargo, creemos firmemente que proteger a nuestros niños de contenido dañino debe ser la máxima prioridad. Unámonos para crear un entorno digital más seguro para nuestras generaciones futuras.
