The Issue

We are asking Loudoun County and VDOT to preserve Heavenly Hickory Court in its current residential configuration.

Our request is simple:

No new intersection. No new vehicular connection. No change to the existing access or street layout of Heavenly Hickory Court.

Key Reasons to Preserve Heavenly Hickory Court:

  • Preserving Our Safe Haven for Children and Families: Heavenly Hickory Court is more than a road; it’s where our children learn to ride their bikes, where families take peaceful evening walks, and where neighbors greet each other daily. Introducing a vehicular connection or high-volume intersection fundamentally changes this safe, closed-loop sanctuary into a potential shortcut, increasing traffic speed, noise, and safety hazards for playing children and pedestrians.
  • Protecting Community Trust and Financial Investment: Families invested their life savings to make Heavenly Hickory Court their home based on official, approved site plats and recorded deeds that guaranteed a quiet, dead-end residential layout. Altering this configuration after residents made long-term life and financial commitments breaks faith with home buyers who chose this neighborhood precisely for its quiet, low-traffic environment.
  • Fostering Real Neighborhood Cohesion and Well-Being: Quiet cul-de-sacs and residential courts create tight-knit, supportive communities where people feel secure, isolated from external traffic stress. Preserving the street's layout preserves the peace of mind, quality of life, and sense of belonging that residents have carefully cultivated over years.
  • Achieving Traffic Safety Without Sacrificing Neighborhood Integrity: We share the vision for improved safety along Bull Run Post Office Road, but solutions should protect residents, not disrupt existing neighborhoods. Alternative traffic management and engineering enhancements along the main corridor can achieve VDOT and Loudoun County's transportation goals without forcing cut-through traffic through an established residential street.

While we support reasonable safety and traffic operational improvements along Bull Run Post Office Road, altering an established residential street without community concurrence is unacceptable.

We ask Loudoun County and VDOT to meet their transportation goals without compromising the safety, integrity, and layout of our residential neighborhood.

Please stand with the residents of Heavenly Hickory Court:

  • Preserve Heavenly Hickory Court as a dedicated, low-volume residential street.
  • Deny any vehicular connection or new intersection onto Heavenly Hickory Court.
  • Require VDOT to adopt alternative safety enhancements along Bull Run Post Office Road.
