Protect Our Children: Enforce Age Restrictions on Inappropriate YouTube Content Featuring
The Issue
As a concerned parent and community advocate, I’m speaking out about a growing issue that too often goes unnoticed: children being exposed to disturbing and inappropriate content online—specifically through YouTube videos featuring the game Sprunki.
Sprunki appears harmless at first glance, often marketed with cartoonish graphics and lighthearted titles. However, many of the videos and streams featuring this game contain graphic violence, disturbing imagery, and sexually suggestive content that is absolutely not appropriate for children.
What’s even more troubling is that some YouTube content creators are actively targeting children 13 and under, despite Sprunki being labeled by its developers as content for ages 16+. These creators are failing to use YouTube’s age-restriction tools, falsely labeling their videos as “kid-friendly” to maximize views and engagement. As a result, children are being exposed to harmful material that they are not emotionally or mentally prepared to process.
According to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), 59% of parents rarely monitor the content their children watch online, and Common Sense Media reports that over 70% of tweens (ages 8–12) watch online videos daily—often without supervision.
We must do better.
This petition calls on YouTube and internet regulators to:
• Enforce stricter age-verification protocols on content involving Sprunki and similar games.
• Hold creators accountable for mislabeling content aimed at children.
• Ensure proper use of age-restriction tools to prevent underage viewers from accessing explicit material.
Our children deserve to explore the internet safely—without being misled or harmed by content disguised as entertainment. Let’s take a stand and demand better protections for our youth.
Please sign and share this petition. Together, we can create a safer digital space for our kids.
