Some people have questioned my call to ban social media for children under 16 in India.
These include:
1. Parents of young kids who say, “But they’re just watching videos or chatting… what’s the harm?”
2. Educators who remind me, “We connected through LinkedIn. Isn’t social media powerful for learning?”
3. Parents of teens who’ve somehow navigated the digital chaos safely, or believe it’s not their kid who’s at risk
4. Thought leaders who worry, “Blanket bans backfire. Isn’t it better to just manage things at home?”
But here’s what they’re MISSING:
> Teens WILL explore. And the older they get, the more curious and vulnerable they become.
> This isn’t about banning adults. It’s about protecting developing brains from the chaos and addiction of these platforms.
> Your child isn’t safe unless ALL children are. Teens are social- if their peers are deep into unsafe online spaces, they get pulled in too.
> If we don’t push back, social media will keep getting darker. The algorithms are designed to addict- and they’re learning fast.
It’s time to demand accountability- from social media companies, policymakers, and ourselves.
We NEED laws, not just house rules.

Let’s act before one more child is harmed online.
