Protect Our Children: Ban Social Media for Kids Under 16 in India

Sign this petition to urge the Indian government to take action!

📢 The Problem:

Social media is harming our children’s mental health, exposing them to cyberbullying, addiction, and dangerous online content. Despite age restrictions, millions of Indian children under 16 are using social media unsupervised—leading to anxiety, depression, body image issues, and even self-harm.

🔴 Why This Matters:

 • 📉 79% of Indian teens (13-17 years) use social media daily, despite risks.
 • 💔 1 in 3 children in India has experienced cyberbullying.
 • ⏳ 4-6 hours daily—Average time a teenager spends on social media, leading to addiction.
 • ⚠️ 67% of kids have been exposed to inappropriate content online.
 • 🚨 Studies link social media use before 16 to higher rates of depression and anxiety.

👨‍👩‍👧 What We Demand:

We urge the Indian government to protect our children by:
✅ Banning social media access for children under 16 through strict age verification.
✅ Making social media companies accountable for protecting minors.
✅ Introducing digital literacy education in schools to teach safe online behavior.
