Over 1700 of you have signed the petition to ban social media access for children under 16 in India, and I’m deeply grateful for your support. 🙏🏼

Recently, Instagram announced 'Teen Accounts,' a new set of features claiming to make the app safer for younger users. These include default private accounts, limited messaging, sensitive content filters, and even sleep mode.

But here’s the truth: No amount of digital safeguards can replace real-world maturity.

Despite these changes:

> Kids still feel pressure to look perfect and perform for likes.
> Bullying, peer rejection, and predatory behaviour can still slip through.
> The app remains addictive by design, with dopamine hits driving usage.
> Family arguments around screen time, content, and control continue- because the problem is structural, not parental.
> These updates are like adding a seatbelt to a car- but still handing over the keys to a 10-year-old.

Kids under 16 don’t need social media. What they need are real connections, nature, books, friendships, and unstructured time—not the anxiety of online validation or invisible dangers behind every scroll.

Please keep sharing this petition and tag parents, educators, and lawmakers. Let’s build a movement strong enough to create safe laws, safe tech, and safe childhoods.
