Protect off-road riders' rights
The Issue
We are members of the off-road community, consisting of four-wheel-drive vehicle owners, side-by-side (UTV) riders, families, outdoor enthusiasts, veterans, and responsible recreationists who are deeply concerned about the continued loss of access to public off-road trails. For generations, these trails have been enjoyed responsibly by thousands of people who appreciate the outdoors and the opportunity to explore our state's natural beauty.
Recently, however, increasing governmental restrictions and legislative proposals threaten to close or severely limit access to these cherished trails. These restrictions disproportionately affect members of our community who rely on these trails for recreation, stress relief, and bonding with family and friends. The closures also negatively impact local economies that depend on tourism and off-roading activities.
According to recent reports, the outdoor recreation industry contributes billions of dollars annually to the national economy, providing jobs and income to thousands of families. By restricting access to off-road trails, we risk not only damaging local businesses but also limiting opportunities for future generations to explore and appreciate nature responsibly.
Furthermore, research has shown that responsible off-road recreational activities, when managed correctly, have minimal environmental impact. By fostering cooperation between governmental agencies, environmental organizations, and the off-road community, we can develop sustainable solutions that both protect our environment and preserve our rights to access these lands.
We are calling on policymakers to consult with the off-road community and consider science-backed evidence when proposing new legislation. We urge the government to establish fair trails access policies that balance conservation efforts with the rights and needs of off-road enthusiasts.
Join us in urging our policymakers to respect and protect the rights of off-road riders. Sign this petition to stand with us in preserving access to public lands for current and future generations. Together, we can work towards policies that celebrate responsible recreation and conservation.
This is in direct response to the closures and LEO presence on the B-Creek area.
