The Issue

Dear Sacramento City Leaders and Councilmembers Lisa Kaplan and Karina Talamantes,

The North Natomas community supports compassionate solutions to address homelessness in our city, especially for vulnerable seniors aged 55 and older. However, we firmly oppose the proposed micro-community of up to 40 tiny homes on the city-owned vacant lot near Arena Boulevard and El Centro Road in North Natomas.

This location is directly adjacent to our family-friendly neighborhood, and placing it here would disrupt our quiet, safe community without adequate consideration for residents' concerns. While we applaud the city's efforts to provide housing with amenities like security, case management, and pet-friendly spaces, this site is simply the wrong fit. It risks impacting local traffic, noise levels, property values, and overall quality of life for hundreds of North Natomas families. We deserve transparency on issues like maintenance, transportation, and long-term viability and many questions were left unanswered at recent community meetings.

We call on the city to relocate this project to a more appropriate industrial or underutilized site away from established residential areas. Homelessness is a crisis that needs solving, but not at the expense of our neighborhood's well-being.

Please sign this petition to show your support and urge city officials to prioritize balanced, community-sensitive planning. Together, we can find better solutions for everyone.
