The issue

Nitty Gritty has been priced out of Corinda! Wayne & Caroline need our help. This beloved local cafe has been our community hub, a safe space where anyone could feel at home. It's not just a place to grab a coffee—it's where friendships are forged and community ties are strengthened.

However, this cornerstone of our neighborhood is under threat. The rent Nitty Gritty is being asked to pay has skyrocketed, making it unfeasible for Wayne & Caroline to continue operating. To give some perspective, similar fit-outs in nearby areas are currently half the price of what Nitty Gritty is being charged. For example, a new development at Shop 247 Graceville Avenue, Graceville, QLD, 4075, is currently leasing for $50,000 per annum, significantly less than Nitty Gritty's rent.

This disparity isn't just unfair—it's unsustainable. If we allow this rent hike to drive Nitty Gritty out of business, we stand to lose a part of what makes our community unique and vibrant. We must act to ensure our beloved cafe remains open. No community should have to lose a vital gathering place due to unreasonably high rent demands.

We call upon  the building's landlords to reconsider their rent policy and offer more equitable terms that reflect the current market prices in surrounding areas. Let us fight to keep Nitty Gritty thriving and prevent another local treasure from disappearing.

Please sign this petition to urge those in power to take immediate action and protect Nitty Gritty from unfair rent hikes. Let's bring our community hub back and show our support for Wayne & Caroline and for Corinda's spirit.
