Protect Nigerian Lives from Kidnappings & Violence — Call for Global Attention

Protect Nigerian Lives: Children, Women & Communities from Kidnappings and Violence — Call for Global Attention

Nigeria is facing a severe escalation of insecurity. Children, women, youths, and entire communities, including schools, churches, and villages continue to suffer from kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks.

While the kidnapped 303 schoolchildren, teachers, and worshippers have thankfully been rescued, the attacks continue to happen in a recurring pattern. Temporary measures, like school closures, do not solve the problem, long-term, strategic action is urgently needed to protect lives and communities.

Regardless of how this is politically labeled, the undeniable truth is that innocent lives are being lost almost every day.

We are calling on the international community, including the United Nations and reputable international human rights organizations, to urgently intervene through monitoring missions, human-rights assessments, diplomatic pressure, and support for protection measures.

If the Nigerian government cannot fully protect its citizens, then global oversight is needed to save lives.

Why We Are Raising This Petition

Recent waves of violence, especially attacks on schools, churches, children, women, youths, and entire communities — show that the situation is worsening.

Publicly documented and news-verified events include:

  • In November 2025, 303 schoolchildren and 12 teachers were kidnapped from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Niger State.
  • In Kwara State, over 30 people were abducted inside a church during a service.
  • In Benue State, repeated attacks have destroyed entire villages — including the Yelwata community massacre, which left over 100–200 people dead and 3,000 displaced.

Many states in the Middle Belt now contain IDP camps, where families have lived for years with no hope of returning home.

Young people continue to be targeted during community raids and school attacks, cutting lives and futures short.

These are only the cases captured by the media; many more go unreported.

What We Are Asking For

We demand urgent and concrete action:

1. Send a UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission to Nigeria, neutral observers to assess the situation, verify patterns, and recommend solutions.

2. Immediate Protection for Schools, Churches & Vulnerable Communities, children, women, and youths must not be left exposed to recurring attacks.

3. Independent Investigations , include international observers so findings are trusted, impartial, and transparent.

4. Prosecution of Perpetrators , Nigeria must show visible accountability by arresting and prosecuting those responsible.

5. Support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) , provide resettlement, housing, safety guarantees, and psychosocial support for thousands of displaced families.

6. Public Data Reporting , the government must release transparent reports on killings, kidnappings, and community attacks, so citizens and the world can track progress.

Our Message

We are not here to argue about labels, whether “insecurity,” “religious violence,” or “ethnic conflict.” The impact is the same:

Children are being kidnapped. Women are being taken. Youths are being killed. Schools and churches are under attack. Communities live in fear.

Even though some kidnapped schoolchildren, teachers, and worshippers have been rescued, the recurring pattern of violence continues. Families remain unsafe, and more lives are at risk every day. Temporary measures like school closures are not enough,we need long-term solutions.

We call on every Nigerian and friend of Nigeria worldwide to sign this petition. Your voice can help bring international attention and pressure for change.Let us stand for peace, justice, and the protection of innocent lives.
