The Issue

From May to September or October, sea turtles come ashore on North Carolina’s beaches to nest and lay eggs.  Turtles and their young face a lot of challenges to continue life.  An added obstacle for them is fireworks.  Lights, loud sounds, debris, and toxic chemicals are disruptive, harmful, and sometimes fatal for turtles—and other wildlife.  We humans claim to love our beaches and want to protect wildlife, so why harm our treasures for a few minutes of amusement?   Let’s do better.  Let’s tell our leaders to end fireworks displays on our beaches.  On behalf of the turtles, thank you!
