Protect Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) at the University of North Georgia

The Issue

The University System of Georgia’s Board of Regents has adopted a swath of changes to "fight back against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ideology and to strengthen academic integrity across its campuses. "

These assaults not only threaten MSA, but MSA-affiliated student clubs, such as the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA), the Black Student Union (BSU), the Asian Student Association (ASA), and the Latin American Student Organization (LASO), among others. These organizations are designed for the student body, by students, to offer resources and support to marginalized identities.

This brazen violation of the First Amendment seeks to silence and muffle the voice of those who fought for decades getting Universities to recognize organizations like MSA and GSA. Not only does the University System of Georgia intend to continue plundering the student body of funds, it now intends to rub the salt of censorship in the wounds of the student body.

The Board of Regents launched their political campaign against inclusion starting, in cowardly fashion, a mere week after President Donald Trump was declared President-elect.

The document also clarifies that employees cannot use “USG or other public resources” to support “political activities," despite the fact that they are actively engaged in political and partisan activities.

The statement continued: “Colleges and universities not only equip students for the jobs of tomorrow, they also must prepare them to be contributing members of society and to understand the ideals of freedom and democracy that make America so exceptional."

It is clear that the University System of Georgia, and their ideological overlords, do not care about the voice and opinion of the students, nor of the professors, nor of the administrative staff who keep organizations like MSA alive.
