Protect Missouri families from road rage and gun violence
The Issue
On May 24th 2025 , We the family were celebrating my Johnisha Hillard 29th birthday when a maroon Nissan Altima can and shot gunfire straight through the vehicle hitting Richard and Jordan at the same time . Jordan passed away that night May 25,2025 . While Richard passed away October 29,2025 from his injuries failing. Richard just had turned 11 years old . Jordan Neal and Richard Neal III, two cherished brothers, lost their lives senselessly due to an act of road rage that turned violent on bircher and ruskin . This heartbreaking incident did not only rob a family of its beloved sons but also served as a stark reminder of the escalating violence that occurs on our roads each day. The pain and devastation caused to the Neal family is mirrored in countless other families who have suffered similar losses due to roadway violence.
Statistics show a troubling rise in road rage incidents across the United States, but in Missouri, the numbers are particularly alarming. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, there have been over 1,000 reported incidents of road rage in the past year alone, many involving firearms. This increase in roadway violence highlights an urgent need for legislative action to address and curb these dangerous behaviors.
In response to these tragedies, we propose the establishment of the Jordan and Richard Law. This legislation aims to:
1. Enforce stricter penalties for acts of violence committed during incidents of road rage.
2. Implement mandatory educational programs about the dangers of road rage and gun safety for drivers obtaining Missouri driver's licenses.
3. Increase funding for law enforcement agencies to better train officers in de-escalation techniques when dealing with aggressive drivers.
4. Promote the use of technology, such as dashboard cameras and emergency reporting apps, to help citizens report and record incidents of road rage and violence.
By enacting the Jordan and Richard Law, Missouri can take a decisive stand against roadway violence and ensure safer roads for all its citizens. This law serves as a beacon of hope and aids in the prevention of future tragedies that result from aggressive and violent driving behavior.
