Protect Malden Massachusetts From a Future Mass Deportaion Law

Protect Malden Massachusetts From a Future Mass Deportaion Law

The Issue

President elect Donald Trump's future immigration policies will deport undocumented immigrants in Malden Massachusetts. Currently, Malden has no protection from a future federal mass deportation law. Malden relies on its immigrant population because of all they contribute to Malden's economy. Deporting undocumented immigrants in Malden could threaten workforces in industries from agriculture to healthcare in Malden. Also, Malden has the second most population of undocumented immigrants in Massachusetts. In order for undocumented immigrants to not get deported in Malden, Malden must become a sanctuary city, to make their own local laws regarding immigration, unaltered by federal laws.

If things stay the same, and the undocumented immigrants in Malden are deported, Malden will stagnate, and its industries and economy will crumble. Undocumented immigrants are a major part of Malden's workforces, and economy. We can't just deport them. If Malden does become a sanctuary city, undocumented immigrants in Malden will stay there, and continue to thrive, and contribute the community and economy.

Now is the time to act because one of the first things Trump will do when he steps into office, is deport undocumented immigrants across the nation. If this petition receives enough signatures, we will send in to Gary Christenson, the mayor of Malden Massachusetts. It will put pressure on his shoulders to make Malden a sanctuary city, and make change.
