Protect Louise:Stop the 5G Mast Until Safety Questions are Answered
The Issue
Every day, Louise depends on her insulin pump to stay alive. Now, a 25-metre 5G mast is set to be built just 90 metres from our family home — and no one can tell us whether it is safe for her.
The manufacturer’s own instructions for Louise’s insulin pump warn that high-frequency electromagnetic signals can interfere with the device and potentially cause it to malfunction. At airports, she must remove the pump before passing through scanners because of this exact risk. If her pump fails, the consequences could be life-threatening.
Despite these serious concerns, Mid Sussex District Council has approved this mast without providing us with the critical safety information we have repeatedly requested (DM/25/1495). We have asked both MSDC and Cellnex UK to disclose the frequencies the mast will emit, so we can establish what distance Louise needs to be from it to remain safe. We have also requested details of the mast’s Public Exclusion Zone. Neither has been provided.
How can a project be approved when the potential risks to a vulnerable resident have not even been properly answered?
What makes this even more alarming is that this mast is not being built to improve local mobile signal or emergency communications for residents. It is primarily intended to provide uninterrupted WiFi coverage for trains travelling along the London to Brighton railway line — potentially for passengers using the service for only seconds as they pass through.
No family should be left fearing that the technology installed near their home could interfere with lifesaving medical equipment.
We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for transparency, proper safety assessments, and for human life to come before convenience.
Please sign this petition and help us protect Louise before this mast is built. Every signature helps us demand answers, accountability, and safety for our family and our community.
