Protect Local Home Care for Monmouthshire’s elderly residents

Protect Local Home Care for Monmouthshire’s elderly residents
The Issue
A locally based Monmouthshire provider has been supporting older Monmouthshire residents to live independently for 15 years, providing around 1,000 hours of care every week with the support of around 60 members of staff, all of whom live locally.
Monmouthshire County Council has retendered its care contracts and awarded the contract for Portskewett, Caldicot, Chepstow and surrounding villages to a provider based in Essex.
This change means that many older people are going to lose the carers they know trust. These relationships, built up over the years, are critical to the wellbeing and dignity of some of the most vulnerable residents in our community. We call on the County Council to urgently review this decision.
