Protect Kurdish civilian's rights in Rojava (Northeastern Syria)

Protect Kurdish civilian's rights in Rojava (Northeastern Syria)
The Issue
Defend Kurds in Rojava — Sign the Petition
We, the undersigned, call urgent attention to the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in Rojava and across northeastern Syria, where civilians especially Kurdish communities face growing violence, displacement, and insecurity. As a result, many civilians have lost their lives.
Kurdish communities in Hasakah, Qamishlo, Kobane, and surrounding areas are experiencing fear, instability, and the loss of essential services. Kurdish communities, long denied basic rights and repeatedly caught in cycles of conflict, now face renewed threats not of their making.
Serious security risks persist, including fighting near detention facilities holding thousands of ISIS detainees. Recent clashes around detention facilities have led to reported escapes of ISIS terrorists, raising serious concerns about civilian safety and the potential for renewed extremist violence, threatening both local Kurdish populations and wider regional stability.
We urge the international community to act now without delay to protect Kurdish civilians, uphold international humanitarian law, and ensure that Kurdish civilian areas and critical infrastructure are never targeted.
Forced displacement, property confiscation, and demographic manipulation must be prevented. Kurdish civilians must be protected in their right to remain safely in their homes, free from threats or collective punishment.
Humanitarian access must be guaranteed, allowing aid organizations to deliver life-saving assistance without obstruction or political interference.
Protecting Kurdish and minority rights, including cultural, civil, the right to self-determination, and political rights, is essential to dignity, equality, and lasting peace. Independent international monitoring and accountability mechanisms are necessary to deter abuses and end recurring cycles of violence.
Protecting Kurdish lives in northeastern Syria is both a moral obligation and an international responsibility.
