The Issue

When a judge's decision results in a 50/50 custody arrangement with a proven abuser, it's clear there's a serious problem in our family court system. This isn't just a personal battle—it's a call to action for all of us in Kentucky. I took this issue head-on, despite having no political or legal background. By delving into Kentucky law, I discovered the gaps that allow such rulings to occur and wrote a 20-page legislative proposal. In just 24 hours, it was accepted for review.
Our current system is failing to protect children, and we can't stand by and let this continue. The proposal I crafted is now making its way through the Kentucky legislative process, with committees and the LRC considering its potential. We are fighting to ensure that the next person facing a similar situation will have more protection than I did. This is not just my fight—it's a fight for every family in Kentucky.
We need systemic reform to address the inadequacies in our family court system. Protecting children must be our top priority, and that requires legislative change. Kentucky can lead the way in setting a standard that values the safety and well-being of children above all else.
Join me in this crucial effort to reform our family court system. Let's ensure that Kentucky children are safe and protected by the laws designed to support them. Sign this petition to show your support and demand that our legislators take action. Together, we can make a difference.
