Petition updateProtect Jingu Gaien's trees! Rethink the development plan! This Saturday 2:30 demo at Jingu Gaien: forming a human chain around the trees in danger

The Jingu Gaien Redevelopment Project was approved by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government on February 17, followed by permission from Shinjuku Ward to cut down the trees. The demolition of the Jingu No. 2 Stadium began on March 22.

Currently, the area surrounding Jingu Stadium No. 2 and the "Kenkoku Kinen Bunko no Mori (National Foundation Memorial Archives Forest)" to the north of the stadium are hidden by a tall temporary white construction fence.

Approximately 3,000 trees are to be cut down for the demolition work that will take place inside this hidden enclosure. The 100-year-old Himalayan cedar, ginkgo, and yerba matebashi trees around the stadium will be cut down, and the trees in the Kenkoku Kinen Bunko no Mori are already being prepared for transplantation.

Let's protest this reckless pushing forward of the redevelopment despite public opposition. What's going on now is just the first step of the development process, and there is still time to stop the next steps. Drawing public attention is important, and this demo will help with that.

We will gather at Jingu Gaien in the afternoon of Saturday, April 1, and join hands to create a human chain to protect the "Kenkoku Kinen Bunko no Mori".
Please join us!
