It's a rainy day in Tokyo today, so a good time for a hashtag demo on Twitter!

This time in our hashtag demo we will focus on ITOCHU, one of the four developers behind the Jingu Gaien redevelopment project.

Although it hides behind Mitsui Fudosan and tries to make its presence as little known as possible, the reconstruction of the ITOCHU head office building is in fact the biggest key to this redevelopment project. This is because the alchemy of the redevelopment is achieved by using an urban planning scheme unique to Japan called floor-area ratio transfer. As a result, ITOCHU benefits from the redevelopment by getting permission to make its head office building approximately twice as tall and voluminous as it is currently.

ITOCHU Corporation touts the SDGs and ESG as its corporate philosophy to contribute to a sustainable society. But participating in the redevelopment of Jingu Gaien, which involves massive tree cutting, destruction of historic stadiums that could be renovated instead, and putting a bunch of high-rise buildings in a landscape protection area, is the exact opposite.

Let's call ITOCHU out for its hypocrisy.

Let's tweet this hashtag at 16:00 on Saturday the 25th:
#伊藤忠偽りのSDGs
#神宮外苑の樹木伐採に反対します

Let's also tag ITOCHU Urban Development's Twitter account @IPDPR!

To make sure you don't forget, please use the advance reservation function on Twitter.

Then, at 4 pm, please retweet tweets with this hashtag in them.

The last hashtag demo was very effective, so let's trend again!
