Growing up in a diverse neighborhood, I have seen  how immigrant families enrich and share their culture in our communities and contribute to our society’s social and economic fabric. Many of my friends have at least one family member who has migrated to the US, and this connection is personal and deeply important to me. Ensuring their safety and mental stability is a cause that I am passionate about. However, the current feeling of fear and uncertainty surrounding immigration policies poses a significant threat to immigrant safety and community unity.

  Unfortunately, recent policies have fueled discrimination and exclusion, isolating immigrant communities and placing them at risk. It is critical for us to build inclusive and welcoming communities where immigrants can live without fear, knowing they are valued and protected by law.

   We can achieve this through several actionable steps: passing comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship; implementing local policies that resist unjust deportations; and fostering community programs that support immigrant integration and cultural understanding. These measures will not only protect families but also strengthen the social fabric of our neighborhoods and cities.

   I call on local, state, and federal leaders to prioritize humane immigration policies that reflect our shared values of dignity and respect for all individuals. Let us stand united in promoting inclusive communities that uphold immigrant rights and foster solidarity among all residents.
