This petition is to let Maverik Inc. know that we would like them to reconsider building the gas station they are planning on the Historic Downtown corner of Main Street and 200 North (Freedom Blvd) in Cedar City, Utah.

The heart of our city is our Historic Downtown, a reminder of our past and a remaining bit of charm for the future. Having an Historic Downtown fosters community pride, encourages tourism, and adds greatly to our local economy. Unfortunately, Maverik Inc.'s intent to establish a gas station at the intersection of Main Street and 200 N (Freedom Blvd) will detract from the ambiance and character of our Historic Downtown.

Maverik Inc. has hundreds and hundreds of gas stations. Cedar City, UT has ONE Historic Downtown.

Cedar City has paid for multiple studies regarding developing a downtown that is a thriving economic sector. Every study recommends more restaurants, more shopping, more places to stay, and making it more pedestrian friendly. A gas station fulfills none of these assets.

Historic Districts are rapidly being destroyed. Once they're gone, they're gone! Please don't let that happen here!
