Petition Opposing MCU23/103 – 38 Queen Street, Harrisville

We, the undersigned, oppose the development application MCU23/103 for a Warehouse (Self-Storage Facility / Storage Yard) at 38 Queen Street, Harrisville.

This proposal would introduce a large-scale shipping container storage yard into Harrisville’s main street, directly next to local businesses and community facilities.

We object because:

  • The proposal has a poor appearance, relying on shipping containers, fences and screens rather than presenting an attractive frontage to Queen Street.
  • It does not comply with the Township Zone Code, which requires development to enhance the township’s streetscape character.
  • It creates a bulky, industrial, mismatched look out of place in Harrisville’s rural village setting.
  • It risks undermining the amenity of nearby businesses, community events, and the tourism appeal of our town.
  • It is an eye sore.

We call on Scenic Rim Regional Council to REFUSE this application to protect Harrisville’s character, streetscape, and community identity.

Please help by signing the petition, thank you ;)
