Protect Fulwood's Fields from Overdevelopment

The Issue

People of Lodgemoor and Fulwood, our green spaces are under threat. For decades these fields have been enjoyed by both wildlife and residents alike; however this area, an integral part of our community, is now under the threat of irreversible change. Plans to develop nearly 300 new houses on this cherished land are moving forward, posing significant risks to the local environment, wildlife, and infrastructure.

Overdevelopment will directly lead to habitat destruction, threatening the deer, rabbits, insects and birds that have thrived here for years. Additionally, the introduction of more vehicles tied to such a substantial increase in population will inevitably result in higher emissions, polluting the air and further harming our local ecosystem. The fields are known for flooding, and the council has shown no interest in protecting the area from this - instead choosing to exacerbate the issue.

The proposed development will not just harm the environment, it will also strain our already limited local infrastructure. Public services such as schools and the already oversubscribed GP will face increased pressure, compromising our livelihoods further. Roads, which are not designed to handle significant traffic influxes, would see congestion and deterioration, fundamentally changing the character of our peaceful, rural community. And we all know the buses are terrible already..

While there is a need to address housing shortages, such developments should not come at the cost of our environment and quality of life. Sustainable solutions exist; we can pursue responsible development on brownfield sites, but this suggestion is a blatant disregard of all we care about.

Please join us in standing against this overdevelopment. Sign the petition to protect our beautiful local fields and ensure they remain for generations to come.
