I started this petition because I feel personally persecuted as a member of Club America at King High School. Our club stands for open dialogue, civil disagreements, and informative debates where everyone, regardless of their political beliefs, race, gender, or party affiliation, is welcome. This is not about imposing our conservative values on anyone, but about creating a space where different ideas can coexist and be respected.

Recently, there has been an effort to dismantle our club simply because we hold conservative views that do not neatly align with certain perceptions of what America should represent. We are being unfairly targeted for fostering discussions that some find uncomfortable or controversial, yet these dialogues are fundamental to the diversity of thought and freedom of speech in academic settings.

Conservatism, much like any other ideology, deserves a place on our campus. High Schools should be breeding grounds for free exchange of ideas—not echo chambers catering only to a particular ideology. Club America seeks to contribute to the richness of intellectual diversity by embracing all voices and fostering respectful discourse. We hold events, engage in debates, and promote understanding among students with differing beliefs.

The attempt to silence our club is not only an attack on us but on the very principle of diversity—diversity in thought, that is crucial for learning and growth. It is essential to have platforms where different perspectives are shared and explored. By dismantling our club, King High School would be doing a disservice to its students, robbing them of valuable learning opportunities and stifling the development of critical thinking skills.
