Hurricane season is here—and FEMA, the agency that saves lives during disasters, is on the chopping block.

The Trump administration is moving to eliminate FEMA, even though no real replacement exists. That means fewer people to rescue families from rising floodwaters, fewer hands helping states rebuild after deadly storms, and no one to step in when everything else fails.

FEMA isn’t just a name. It’s the people who show up with food, water, shelter, and support when everything else is gone. It’s the help that communities like North Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi count on when hurricanes tear through homes and lives.

Without FEMA, many states will go bankrupt trying to recover on their own. Others won’t recover at all.

We can’t play politics with people’s lives.

Right now, some parts of FEMA are being quietly held together, just enough to get through the season. But that’s not enough. We need to fully fund and support FEMA, not gut it when Americans need it most.
