Protect Discussion of LGBTQIA+ Topics in Mt. Lebanon Classrooms
Why this petition matters

A recent lawsuit created by three mothers in the Mt. Lebanon School District aims to erase discussion of LGBTQIA+ topics in elementary school classrooms within the district, and soon may spread to the middle and high schools if it remains unchecked.
We must stand up for our rights and protect discussion of these topics; topics that only serve to educate each and every student, not further harm. Our work continues in showing the world that LGBTQIA+ people have the right to exist as valid and equal human beings, and we carry the responsibility to begin that work in the most important of spaces: the classroom.
By creating this petition, we — the students of Mt. Lebanon School District — hope that this petition reflects the united belief that everyone deserves equal and comprehensive education. The Mount Lebanon School District pledges “to provide the best education possible for each and every student,” but this lawsuit threatens to undo that mission statement set at the core of our district’s values. Sign today to stand together in solidarity, and to uphold the uniquely human values that characterize a truly successful scholarly experience.
