The Issue

This petition emerges from the deeply personal experience of a mother battling systemic neglect, lies and betrayal by social services towards her severely mentally disabled autistic son and her family. Unfortunately, this heartbreaking situation is not an isolated incident, but a reflection of a systemic issue that impacts countless families who remain unheard and unseen. Autistic kids and their families, in particular, need specialists and a system that can appropriately care for their unique needs. Currently, there exists an enormous gap between this necessity and reality.

An estimated one in 54 children in the U.S. has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), according to estimates from CDC's Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. Every family dealing with ASD has their unique set of struggles and frustrations due to insufficient support and recognition from social services.
