Today, Council unanimously voted to proceed with the Rainbow Bay to Snapper Rocks Masterplan.
While this is not the outcome many in our community hoped for, it is not the end of the process — and it is certainly not the end of community involvement.
Over recent days thousands of people have taken the time to read, discuss, and engage with this issue. That level of interest alone shows how deeply this place matters. Decisions affecting an iconic and sensitive coastline deserve ongoing scrutiny, transparency, and accountability, especially where residents feel their concerns were not fully reflected before approval.
We will now continue pressing ahead with the official Queensland Parliamentary petition and seek clarity on how public submissions were assessed and what opportunities remain for meaningful input as the project moves into its next stages. Projects of this scale still pass through further design, assessment, and approval processes, and community voices remain relevant throughout.
The community will not stop fighting until it’s either demolished or heritage-listed.
Thank you for standing with us so far — your support ensures this conversation does not end with a single vote.
