We are asking Rivers Fitness Evesham to review its arrangements for children's swimming lessons and to stop adult Health Suite users from accessing the poolside and communal changing facilities while children's swimming lessons are taking place.

At present, people using the Health Suite are able to access it by walking around the swimming pool while children's swimming lessons are in progress. This means unrelated members of the public are walking past children who are participating in lessons.

There is also a concern that communal changing facilities are being used by adult Health Suite users at the same time as children attending swimming lessons are getting changed.

Parents are not permitted to enter the pool area to watch their own children's swimming lessons, with privacy and safeguarding being important considerations. We therefore feel it is inconsistent that unrelated adults using another part of the facility can access areas immediately around the pool and share changing facilities with children during these lessons.

We are not asking for the Health Suite to be closed permanently. We are asking Rivers Fitness to introduce appropriate arrangements so that Health Suite users cannot access the poolside or communal changing facilities while children's swimming lessons are taking place.

We believe children attending swimming lessons should be able to get changed and participate in their lessons in an environment where their privacy and safeguarding are properly protected.

We are asking Rivers Fitness Evesham to:

Restrict Health Suite access via the poolside while children's swimming lessons are taking place.

Prevent adult Health Suite users from using communal changing facilities while children are getting changed for their swimming lessons.

Provide a separate access route and/or changing arrangements for Health Suite users during lesson times where possible.

Review the current safeguarding and privacy arrangements surrounding children's swimming lessons.

If parents are not permitted to access the pool area because children's privacy needs to be protected, we believe the same principle should apply to unrelated adults who are accessing the facility for other purposes.

We are asking Rivers Fitness to listen to the concerns of parents and make reasonable changes to ensure children's privacy and safeguarding are prioritised during swimming lessons.
