Protect Children From Unregulated AI — Before More Harm Is Done

Artificial Intelligence is being unleashed on children with almost no safeguards.
Parents are not asked. Children cannot consent. And when harm happens, no one is held accountable.

3. Senator Mark R. Warner (D-VA) — Co-sponsor of the GUARD Act and vocal supporter of bipartisan AI regulations to safeguard minors from exploitative AI interactions. 

Why This Petition Matters
AI systems are already:

• Creating realistic fake images and videos of children
• Enabling predators to groom minors using AI impersonation
• Collecting voice, facial, and behavioral data from kids
• Exposing children to explicit, manipulative, or psychologically harmful content
• Making decisions in schools and mental-health tools without transparency or oversight
• These technologies are being deployed faster than laws can protect children.

Once a child’s image, voice, or data is captured by AI, it can be copied, altered, and spread forever.

- Mandatory age verification and parental consent for AI tools accessible to minors
- A total ban on AI-generated sexual, exploitative, or deceptive content involving children
- Strict limits on data collection — no biometric, voice, or behavioral data from minors without clear parental approval
- Transparency requirements so parents know how AI interacts with their children
- Real legal accountability when AI systems harm or exploit minors

These are basic child-safety standards, not extreme regulations.

Why Action Is Urgent
Tech companies are racing to dominate the AI market. Children are becoming test subjects.

If we wait:

• More children will be exploited
• More data will be harvested
• More damage will be normalized as “innovation”
