Working in greyhound rescue has shown me the affectionate nature and innate innocence of these beautiful dogs. Yet, they will stand on the edge of peril if a ban on racing is implemented in Britain.

A ban in dog racing will dramatically increase the number of unwanted greyhounds, leading kennels to overflow which to be honest we are already in, more greyhounds being put to sleep or, even worse, greyhounds being shipped abroad to countries that no longer allow the breeding of greyhounds. This could potentially ignite a resurgence of puppy mills and would result in greyhounds suffering more than ever. 

Based on figures compiled by the Retired Greyhound Trust, it's estimated that around 8,000 greyhounds retire from racing annually that is not including the dogs that still race, If a ban was to take place, this number could easily triple, creating a situation the current rescues and kennel infrastructures simply can't handle.

We need to bear in mind the wellbeing and future of these innocent animals if a ban is implemented and this is why we must advocate for these dogs and stop the ban to ensure the greyhounds protection against harms a ban may cause. 

A ban will never be phased out over the years as trainers will down tools as soon as a ban is implemented, just like anyone who is about to loose their job, they jump ship before it sinks and then what will happen to the dogs ?? Is everyone who signed the petition for the ban going to adopt them?….very unlikely! 

There is no positive outcome whatsoever to banning grey hound racing and greyhounds are going to fall victim to this ban due to lack of knowledge. People  think we still live in the dark ages and greyhounds are treated horribly, however it is quite the opposite! All greyhounds are monitored and tracked from birth through every race right through until rehoming also most tracks have onsite vets to check the wellbeing of the dogs and the government has tight restrictions in place ensuring the wellbeing of the dogs.

In the name of these dogs, I implore you to sign this petition, because the ban will crush many hearts, including mine and those of the dogs we cherish so much. 

when really delving into the harm a ban can cause, is it not better the devil we know ? Considering there are already tight monitoring practices in place by our governments?
