Protect Britain: Proscribe the IRGC and Muslim Brotherhood

Movement:Iran 2026

The Issue

This petition, initiated by the We Believe Alliance calls on the UK Government to proscribe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Muslim Brotherhood under the Terrorism Act 2000.

Recent upheaval in Iran, including the death of the Supreme Leader and dozens of senior regime officials, has not removed the threat. The IRGC remains the regime’s most powerful force, already remobilising under new leadership and continuing to suppress opposition inside Iran.

Beyond Iran’s borders, the IRGC funds and directs militant proxy groups across the Middle East, including organisations already banned in the UK. Revenues linked to the regime also strengthen IRGC-controlled economic networks that sustain its power and international reach.

For Britain and its varied communities, the threat is direct. MI5 has revealed that around 20 Iran-backed plots posing lethal threats to British citizens and UK residents have been disrupted since 2022.

Alongside this sits the Muslim Brotherhood, whose ideological networks promote hostility toward protected minorities and advance a worldview fundamentally opposed to pluralism, liberty and democratic governance.

Allowing such movements to operate within Britain undermines national security, democratic institutions and the values that underpin our way of life.

We call on the Government to proscribe the IRGC and the Muslim Brotherhood without delay.

Note:
The We Believe Alliance held a successful House of Lords briefing on the proscription of the IRGC and Muslim Brotherhood on 24th February 2026, attended by MPs, Peers and experts in Middle East affairs.
