The Issue

Why Is Britain Still Waiting?

Labour acknowledged the threat from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in its 2024 manifesto. Following attacks and plots linked to Iran and its proxies, the Government again promised action in the King’s Speech. It has now introduced the National Security (State Threats) Bill, which would create new powers to designate hostile state-linked bodies.

But the IRGC is still not proscribed.

At a time when the Iranian regime appears emboldened by renewed US-Iran engagement, and when the IRGC continues to support terrorist proxies including Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, Britain cannot afford further delay.

We continue to call for the full proscription of the IRGC, alongside serious action against the Muslim Brotherhood and the wider Islamist networks that threaten democratic values and social cohesion.

The Government has recognised the threat. Now it must finish the job.
