The U.S. Constitution is clear: every child born on American soil is a citizen, no matter who their parents are. This principle, rooted in the 14th Amendment, has guaranteed basic equality and dignity for generations. But now, that promise is under threat.

A recent Supreme Court ruling has made it easier for harmful executive orders—like the one aiming to strip birthright citizenship from some children—to go into effect region by region. If left unchecked, this could mean that a baby born in Texas is denied citizenship, while a baby born in California isn’t. That’s not justice. That’s chaos.

We call on Congress to pass federal legislation that reaffirms and protects birthright citizenship nationwide. No child should have to suffer because of where they’re born or the status of their parents. America must stand by its promise that all are created equal under the law.
