Protect Aztec Pride: Keep Mr. Walker at Soledad High School
The Issue
Mr. Walker has been an integral part of Soledad High School for over 13 years, becoming not just an assistant principal, but a beloved and trusted member of our community. His dedication extends far beyond the walls of our school, as he actively engages with the Soledad community, always striving to offer support and solutions not only to students at Soledad High, but to families and community members as well. We cannot afford to lose someone who has been such a positive and consistent force.
Mr. Walker is not only an administrator — he is a friend, a mentor, and a role model to both students and the broader community. He consistently goes above and beyond the expectations of his role, demonstrating a level of commitment that is rare and deeply impactful. The hours he works far exceed what is typical for an administrator. He is present at Saturday School, supports students outside of regular hours, and even makes home visits to ensure students are supported — something no other administrator in the district currently does. His dedication is not limited to a job description; it is a reflection of his genuine care for the success and well-being of every student. Additionally, Mr. Walker is the only administrator on campus who speaks Spanish, which is incredibly important in our community. His ability to communicate directly with Spanish-speaking students and families builds trust, strengthens relationships, and ensures that everyone has access to the support and information they need.
Recently, there has been talk of removing the assistant principal position, a decision that we believe would be detrimental to our school and community. The middle school in our district has two assistant principals despite having fewer students than Soledad High. This discrepancy highlights the necessity of retaining the assistant principal role here to adequately meet the needs of our larger student population.
The presence of Mr. Walker in the assistant principal position is vital for maintaining the high standards of education and support that our students deserve. He provides essential leadership, builds meaningful relationships, and fosters an inclusive and supportive environment that is crucial for student success. Eliminating this position risks undermining the progress and strong support system that has been built over
many years.
We urge the school board and district administrators to reconsider this decision. Our community relies on leaders like Mr. Walker — individuals who are deeply committed to guiding, supporting, and uplifting our youth. It is crucial to recognize the value he brings not only in his professional capacity, but in the countless lives he impacts every single day.
Please sign and share this petition to help us keep Mr. Walker in his assistant principal position and ensure that Soledad High School continues to thrive under dedicated and compassionate leadership. Your support is vital in preserving the educational excellence and community spirit that define our school.
