Protect Aravali hills from destruction

Protect Aravali hills from destruction
The Issue
The Aravali Hills are not just a geographical feature for me; they represent a vital part of my identity and the identity of many people living in the region. These hills have not only provided a stunning natural backdrop to our lives but have also been crucial in maintaining ecological balance and providing us with essential resources. However, recent Supreme Court guidelines regarding the protection of the Aravali Range have left us concerned about the fate of these precious natural resources.
The Aravalis, stretching across Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. They play a pivotal role in controlling desertification, influencing climate conditions, and supporting numerous species of flora and fauna. The degradation of this range could lead to disastrous consequences, such as reduced rainfall, increased soil erosion, and loss of biodiversity.
Unfortunately, urban development and illegal mining activities have been rampant in these areas, severely impacting the ecosystem. According to a report by the Environmental NGO CSE, more than half of the original Aravali hills in Haryana have already been flattened. If immediate actions are not taken, we could lose this natural heritage forever, leading to irreversible damage to our environment.
The Supreme Court's recent guidelines could potentially open doors for increased construction and exploitation, putting the delicate balance of the Aravalis at further risk. We need to urge the authorities to reconsider these guidelines and focus on sustainable development that ensures the preservation of these historic and ecologically significant mountains.
I implore everybody who values environmental preservation and regional identity to join this cause. Sign this petition to demand the government and judicial bodies to protect the Aravali Hills from further destruction and to implement strict measures against illegal mining and unsustainable urban development. Together, we can safeguard our environment and preserve our heritage for future generations.
