Protect Amanda Township

Protect Amanda Township
Why this petition matters
As proud members of Amanda Township, several of us multi-generation residents, we are extremely concerned to learn of farmland that has been leased for production of Solar Farms right in our front, back, and side yards.
We have been advised that an estimated 1,000 acres of farmland has entered into lease agreements in 2019 with one or more solar panel companies. This property spans from Ridge Road north (adjacent to Cedar Hill Road) to Westfall Road and continues to and crosses State Route 188.
Amanda Township is not alone in this devastating news; Walnut Township is facing an approximate 1,200 acres Solar Farm and Walnut/Liberty Township line 700 acres. Although those areas are not directly impacting our local area, it is a significant concern for Fairfield County residents. As of Friday, April 29, 2002 these projects have not made it to the Power Sitting Board for approval phase, SO NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT!!
If the project within our own neighborhood is permitted to proceed it will completely change our landscape in devastating ways. Negatively impacting property values, removing fertile, productive farmland for the foreseeable future, wildlife, the list could go on… It is our understanding the lifespan of solar farms can be up to 25, 30 years, then we are left with the clean-up phase and hundreds or thousands of acres of barren farmland.
What this means for us: we must educate ourselves on this process and the impact this project will have on each of us. This action, continuing to gather information and our VOICES will be critical to share our concerns, impact to our properties, neighborhood, township, and future. If you would like to join in and support our mission to prevent this devastation within our neighborhood, your VOICE needs to be heard.
