Hello,
I am deeply grateful to all 1,347 people who have signed this online petition, and to those who have contributed nearly $1,000 ($996) to help promote it further. Your support means a great deal.
That said, there is still more work to do — and more ways you can help.
On September 25, 2025, I was interviewed by CTV News Edmonton about my petition efforts. From the many messages and comments I’ve received, it’s clear there is strong support behind this cause.
👉 Watch the interview here:
Our strategy to stop the transition of AISH recipients into ADAP — and to cancel ADAP — involves both online and paper petitions. The online petition amplifies our voices and raises awareness, while the paper petition has real force in the Alberta Legislature.
A revised version of the paper petition is now available. This version more precisely meets the legal requirements of the Legislature. The prayer (petition request) was drafted and recommended by the Office of Parliamentary Counsel, a non-partisan body that prepares legal documents for the Assembly.
Here is the updated prayer:
We, the undersigned residents of Alberta, petition the Legislative Assembly to urge the Government to take all necessary steps to
a. halt the proposed transition of Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) recipients into the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP), as this transition would reduce essential supports for Albertans with disabilities,
b. cancel the proposed ADAP program,
c. maintain existing AISH supports, including benefit levels and earning exemptions, and
d. ensure that all applicants for disability assistance have access to a fair appeals process.

This kind of correction is not unusual for grassroots, community-driven petitions. Thankfully, it came very early in the process — and this is truly a marathon, not a sprint.
If you are able, please also consider attending one of the upcoming protests at the Alberta Legislature:
“No to Cruelty!” (#BanTheBan) Protest
📍 October 25, 2025, 1–3 pm
Organized by Enough is Enough UCP. The paper petition will be circulated for signatures.
“ADAP: A Deadly Ableist Plan” Protest
📍 October 30, 2025, 12–2 pm
Organized by Peoples Alliance for Disabled Albertans (PADA), with MLA Marie Renaud, disability advocate Zachary Weeks, and others. The petition will also be available here.
I am new to this process, but I am learning quickly, fixing mistakes as I go, and working hard to keep this effort moving forward. It is a lot of work — but from your messages, I know this cause is meaningful to many people.
Thank you for your consideration, and time and effort - it is very much appreciated.
