Thank you for your support of this petition opposing the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP). As of today, 864 people have signed, and $362 has been donated to help promote it further.
I am broadening this petition to call for the full cancellation of ADAP. The original purpose — to stop the transition of AISH recipients into ADAP — remains unchanged, but this update makes clear what has always been the underlying concern: ADAP is harmful. For transparency, please note that Change.org allows supporters to withdraw their signatures if they no longer wish to be part of this effort.
While online petitions are not formally recognized by the Alberta Legislature, this petition has already succeeded in raising public awareness of ADAP. I will continue sharing its progress with MLA Jason Nixon and Premier Danielle Smith, as public pressure remains a powerful tool for change.
In addition, I have created a paper petition that meets legislative requirements. After six drafts, it has been finalized and shared with MLA Sharif Haji and MLA Marie Renaud, who are now discussing the best strategy for presenting it. I have already gathered 177 signatures. Soon, I will provide a link where you can download the petition, collect signatures, and mail them to me so that all Albertans can participate.
Finally, I want to highlight an upcoming protest against ADAP on October 30 (12–2 pm) at the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton, organized by the People’s Alliance for Disabled Albertans (PADA). Disability advocate Zachary Weeks and MLA Marie Renaud (Opposition Critic for Community and Social Services) will also be in attendance.
I encourage you to join the protest and, if possible, sign the paper petition there to help strengthen our collective voice.
